I'm Randy Willis. I've been hard to locate on the web since I sold my business where you could locate me by my name.
So I developed a page of autobiographical information with dates, locations and pictures to get my name back on the internet.
That page was pretty dull, so I decided to have some fun with the pictures and the text - and that is what you are reading now.
This page is beginning to look like a personal blog from a person with a lot of spare time. So, if you are a currrent friend and have stumbled onto this site, please be judicious in informing my wife about this page.
She already thinks I have too much free time since I retired, and will come up with yet more mundane chores and inconsequential tasks for me.
I have a form at the bottom of this page in case you want to contact me.
Randy Willis - Waco Texas
Randy Willis was born in Waco, Texas.
My picture was voted the 'Prettiest Baby' when I was in North Waco Elementary School.
I found out forty years later that I only won because my Mom stuffed the ballot jar with pennies.
One penny equalled one vote - this was a long time ago.
After matriculating from the sixth grade, I attended North Junior High School.
Randy Willis - Waco High School
Randy Willis graduated from Waco High School in 1971.
I attended Waco High School at the old location in downtown Waco.
I participated in activities such as student council, The Wacoan school newspaper, my church youth group at Herring Avenue Methodist Church, and basketball for the Waco High Tigers.
Randy Willis - Centenary College
Randy Willis attended Centenary College, Shreveport, Louisiana 1971-1972
I accepted a four year academic scholarship from Centenary College. The first letter I received at my dorm was a draft notice - college deferments had been discontinued to get the head count back up for Vietnam. Now I understood the implication of my low number in the draft lottery. This pretty much messed up my freshman year as I waited to be inducted.
Randy Willis - U.S. Army
Randy Willis drafted into U.S. Army 1972: stationed at Presidio in San Francisco, CA; honorable discharge 1974
After being drafted in June 1972, I trained at Fort Sam Houston Army Base in San Antonio, Texas. Their logo is Home of the Combat Medic, and that's what I became.
Vietnam was still the main destination for new recruits.
I got lucky - I was selected to go to the Letterman Army Instititute of Research (LAIR) and put in my two years at the Presidio Army Base in San Francisco.
Randy Willis - University of Texas at Austin
Randy Willis - University of Texas at Austin: B.A. 1977; M.B.A. 1978
I moved to Austin in the summer of 1974. Now college was fun, just like college is supposed to be.
After I received my B.A. in psychology, I cut off the beard, got a haircut, entered the Graduate School of Business and earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration in 1978.
Now I just needed to find a business to administer.
