Maui Tours

Why spend extra money to take a Maui tour rather than doing it yourself? Several reasons.

You can focus on your Maui activity because someone else is driving or flying or sailing.

You don't have to spend time on planning - Hawaii cruise lines only stop by Lahaina or Kahului for a day.

You can rent a car, but you can't rent vehicles like helicopters or submarines or racing yachts.

Personalized Maui tours can take you to places that you wouldn't find on your own.

Road to Hana Tour

Avoid driving the twisting Hana coast road by signing up with a Hana tour van. If you are the driver on the narrow twisting road to Hana, you will need to focus on oncoming traffic and not going over the rugged cliffs.

One solution is to let someone else do the planning and driving with a road to Hana tour.

Van tours pick you up and drop you back at your hotel.

Maui Helicopter Tour

If you can afford it, a Maui helicopter tour will take you on an adventure that makes theme park rides and IMAX theaters feel like a kiddie ride at the local carnival.

Barefoot Tours booth on Front Street in Lahaina on Maui in 1975 If you want to book a tour rather than reading about tours, click here to go to a website where you can discover more tours and make reservations.

Or call 888-820-2097 to call Maui and talk to a Maui expert at Barefoot Tours right now (they're on Hawaii time). Tell them Randy Willis sent you.

Maui Submarine Tour

Our Maui submarine tour on the Atlantis was costly but fun. A Maui submarine tour offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to ride in a real submarine in a real ocean and look at real tropical fish.

The cost is high ($95 adult, $48 child), but what a ride!

The tour leaves out of Lahaina Harbor.

Maui Volcano Haleakala Tour

A Haleakala tour lets someone else navigate the winding roads to the volcano summit. Let your bus driver navigate the winding roads to the summit by joining a Maui volcano Haleakala tour.

Most tour vans pick you up early in the morning at your hotel.

If you are an early bird and want to see the sunrise at the summit of Haleakala, be prepared for a 3AM pickup.

Maui Downhill Bike Tour

Be wary of Maui downhill bike tours on the winding road down the side of Haleakala. This road is also used by all cars and buses going to the volcano summit.

Several recent fatal accidents for bike riders have resulted in the temporary suspension of guided bike tours.

Maui Whale Watching Tours

Our Maui whale watching tour on a large powered catamaran Whale watching tours let you observe humpback whales spending the winter (December through May) in the warm shallow waters on the leeward west side of Maui.

You have many choices such as large whale watching tour boats from the Pacific Whale Foundation or smaller rafts, catamarans, and specialty craft from small tour operators.

Maui Sailing Tours

Enjoying a Maui sailing tour aboard the racing yacht Scotch Mist out of Lahaina Harbor Maui sailing tours on racing yachts provide ocean views not only of Maui but also other islands such as Lanai and Molokai.

Two popular Maui sailing tours are the Scotch Mist, which won the 1984 Victoria-Maui International Yacht Race, and the America's Cup racing yacht America II.

Maui Snorkeling Tours

Maui snorkeling tours let you enjoy traveling on the ocean while getting to your destination. Popular destinations are the island of Molokini and Honolua Bay on Maui.

Maui Walking Tours

The Banyan Tree on the Lahaina Historic Trail Okay, I just included this because it has the word tour in the title. But I also like another word - free - Lahaina walking tour which is now part of the Lahaina Historic Trail.

This is a self guided tour where you follow a route of Maui historic sites such as Banyan Tree Park, the old Lahaina Lighthouse, Wo Hing Chinese Museum, Baldwin Missionary home, and the Masters Reading Room.

Several of these sites are maintained by the Lahaina Restoration Foundation.

Roberts Hawaii Tours

A large operator for many tours is Roberts Hawaii - you will see their tour buses all over Maui.

A Roberts Hawaii Maui tour bus drives to Lahaina Harbor to transport cruise ship passengers around Maui

When Hawaii cruise ships port at Lahaina, Roberts Hawaii buses will line up at Lahaina Harbor to transport cruise ship passengers around Maui.

The big buses also somehow navigate the winding road to the summit of the Haleakala volcano.
