Fleetwood's on Front Street

Coming Soon - Our Lahaina Restaurant Review

Fleetwood's on Front Street is a new Lahaina restaurant that is scheduled to open late 2011 by Mick Fleetwood, the British rock star who was the co-founder and drummer for Fleetwood Mac.

The restaurant was formerly the Lahaina Store Grille and Oyster Bar - our review of that closed restaurant will be replaced by the current Fleetwood's on Front Street when the new restaurant opens.

Our previous review of Lahaina Store Grille:

The Lahaina Store Grille and Oyster Bar has become one of our favorite Lahaina restaurants because of its varied types of food, window ocean views, and - a rarity for this high density tourist area - attentive service and dining privacy.

The restaurant has two floors that each offer their own unique dining experience. The second floor is the Grille and Oyster Bar with more casual fare favored by kids and teenagers, while the third floor open-air Rooftop Deck offers first rate dining and sunset views that appeals more to adults.

Lahaina Store Grille: Second Floor

Lahaina Store Grille & Oyster Bar - Courtesy BinocularsSo on the way up the stairs from street level, we stop at the second floor and have our dinner there with the girls.

On this second floor, they offer a reasonably priced kids menu (not offered on the rooftop deck), while you can still choose from the Rooftop Menu ($20-$30 per entree) and have a decent dinner for a change.

They even provide courtesy binoculars at the window tables so you can look for whales or just enjoy closeups of the harbor.

We liked playing on the Nintendo Wii on the second floor. Video game bowling was popular pastime when we first arrived at the Oyster Bar.

We went on two consecutive weeknights during our most recent visit to Maui, and both times the second floor was almost vacant, while the roof deck was packed to capacity at sunset.

Lahaina Store Grille & Oyster Bar - girls vie for the brownie and ice creamThis translated to no wait time for a table, as well as attentive waitperson service.

When the kids can get a kids meal, and adults can use an adult menu, all of us enjoy our dining experience.

And the food is outstanding, as evidenced by three sets of hands trying to finish off the brownie and ice cream desert in the picture.

Lahaina Store Grille Rooftop Deck

Lahaina Store Grille & Oyster Bar - Rooftop view of Lanai and an anchored cruise ship We still want to get away from the girls some evening and try the rooftop dining, which includes a view of ships anchored in Lahaina Harbor and of the nearby island Lanai.

The menu is upscale but reasonable at $20-$30 per entree. Because of the view the rooftop is full at sunset.

Location on Front Street

The Lahaina Store Grille is located at 700 Front Street, directly across from the Lahaina seawall with large torches at the top of the building.

The restaurant was built in the old Lahaina Store building in 2003. The decor on the second floor grille is historic and unique - we enjoyed just walking through the restaurant and appreciating the old furnishings and workmanship. Large framed prints in the second floor hallway toward the bathrooms describe the restoration of this building.

Lahaina Store Grille Menu

The Lahaina Store Grille and Oyster Bar menu reflects the two floors that each offer their own unique dining experience.

Menu prices sometimes change, but these menus give you a good overview of the selections offered and the price range for this restaurant.

The third floor open-air Rooftop Deck offers first rate dining and sunset views that appeals more to adults.

Lahaina Store Grille & Oyster Bar

Lahaina Store Grille & Oyster Bar on Front Street in Lahaina on Maui,At the Lahaina Store Grille & Oyster Bar, we like the varied food, attentive service, window ocean views, and - a rarity for this area - dining privacy at the new Lahaina Store Grille and Oyster Bar.

We put up with sitting on the second floor, which has a more intimate atmosphere and better pricing for the same dishes than the third floor open-air rooftop deck with first rate dining and sunset views - we'll try that when we can go without the kids.
