Bubba Gump's offers a decent southern seafood selection for adults, while kids and teenagers can still enjoy entrees such as burgers. And everybody likes their mashed potatoes.

You may have a long wait times (20+ minutes) and rushed service during the evening busy period.

Even if you did not see the Forrest Gump movie or read the book, you will love this Lahaina restaurant.

The restaurant is built out over the water, so you have an ocean view of the island of Lanai from the outside tables.

Once inside, change your table license plate from 'Run Forrest Run' to 'Stop Forrest Stop' to have a waiter stop at your table.

The reasonably priced (for Maui) menu focuses on southern style seafood with casual entree names such as I'm Stuffed Shrimp, Boat Trash, Shrimp New Orleans, Fish and Chips, Run Chicken Run and Shrimp Po' Boy.


While waiting for a table during the busy evening period, you can play ping pong, check out Bubba Gump items in the gift shop, or take a picture in the 'still life' that lets you replace Forrest Gump waiting for the bus ("Life is like a box a chocolates - you never know what you're going to get...").

Enjoy the 'monkey pods' falling onto your table from the giant tree that emerges up through the center of the restaurant (part of the restaurant is built around the tree).

Wait persons visit, ask Forrest Gump movie trivia questions, and just help you have an overall good time.
